I have migrated over from Blogger to WordPress. This will be the new home for My Father’s Hand. I hope to continue updates periodically. I would have done so today, as that was the idea when I first set my mind to it, but realized I no longer wanted to stay on Blogger, and so it took most of the day to customize the WordPress template I chose. I hope that you like it.
I wanted the look of the new site to reflect something of my father. He was a great re-user of things, and as a result, much of the paper he had was yellowed, dogeared, creased and full of character. He had a bad habit of never oiling or putting away any of his tools, so they we always rusty and ancient looking. He saved cardboard, and flattened all the boxes that my mother planned to throw out. He then stacked them in the garage for the next time he was inspired to practice painting. Most of the paintings he did were on corrugated cardboard.
I chose a typeface that looks a bit like his artful, careful writing. He took great pride in his penmanship and occasionally took on lettering jobs for comic books.
